Are you not able to charge your beloved Garmin Edge cycling computer? Regardless of what exact Edge model you have, we can help !
This is a great GPS/ cycling computer. But- as you may have noticed- sadly it has a major flaw: the USB connector. This connector gets damaged often. And when this happens your Garmin becomes useless. The battery eventually runs out and you are unable to charge it and use the device. Some models use a mini USB. Other models use a micro USB. Regardless, these parts are not available anywhere. How we get them ? We order in large quantities from overseas suppliers and pay lots of money. Please remember: these connectors are really solid. But they are installed on circuit boards in mass production and the connections are not necessarily the best. They come loose. When you factor in rough handling by the user, they really do not stand a chance. You want our newly installed connector to last a long time ? Use it gently and be careful with cable orientation when you plug / unplug the cable.
We receive units from other shops that attempted this repair. In over 90% of them the repair was a disaster. In fact, some units were butchered so badly that we were unable to save them. The "techs" who attempted to replace this connector had no clue what they were getting into. All of them tried to substitute the original connector with a similar one hoping all would be fine. They did not realize that there is only enough room in there for that particular part. By doing so they created a host of additional problems If you are not very familiar with this repair, please do not try. Put it in expert hands and relax. Do not just take it to a computer or a TV repair shop. These guys do not know these models and most likely will decline the repair anyway. Do not seek help from Garmin. They do not repair this problem. Most likely they will offer to sell you another unit at much higher price than the cost of repair. Do your math.
